The future is bright for these student recipients were each awarded $2,000 to pursue their higher education goals.
Meritus CU Scholarship Recipients:
Mya Arceneaux
Mya is a graduate of Teurlings Catholic High School. She was a member of the Student Council, Beta Club, Campus and Music Ministry, Rebel Ambassadors and the school musicals. She was also a member of the school soccer and bowling teams and volunteers with the youth programs at St. Leo the Great Church. Mya plans to attend Vanderbilt University to study mechanical engineering.
Nicholas Gautreaux
Nicholas is a graduate of St. Thomas More Catholic High School. He was a member of Campus Ministry and the lacrosse team. Nicholas plans to attend Newcomb College of Tulane University to study biomedical engineering.
Ainsley Hitchcock
Ainsley is a graduate of Lafayette High School. She was a member of Student Council, Beta Club, National Honor Society, and a recipient of the LHSAA All-Academic Composite Swim and Cross Country Teams award. She is also a member of the Asbury UMC Servant Leader Council. Ainsley plans to attend Auburn University to study business.
Faith Landry
Faith is a graduate, and valedictorian, of New Iberia Senior High. She was a member of the National Honor Society and the softball team. She was also a 2023-2024 LHSAA All Academic Team recipient and involved with the Gifted and Talented Program. Faith plans to attend Nicholls State University to study cell and molecular biology.
Gage Laviolette
Gage is a graduate of Erath High School. He was a member of the Pride of Erath Marching Band, the VPSS Gifted and Talented Program and the Lafayette Concert Band. He has also been accepted as a member of the Pride of Acadiana Marching band at the University of Louisiana at Lafayette, where he plans to study mechanical engineering.
Ella Meche
Ella is a graduate of Rayne High School. She was a member of the Student Council, Beta Club, Library Club, Interact Club, Drama Club and a cheerleader. She also volunteered with the Rayne Lions Club and City of Rayne to promote the Rayne Frog Festival and other community events. Ella plans to attend the University of Louisiana at Lafayette to study education and theatre.
We're also pleased to announce that two Meritus CU members were selected for the Lafayette Chapter of Credit Unions Scholarship:
Rory Thibodeaux
Rory is currently attending McNeese State University, pursuing a degree in Accounting. After graduation, she plans to obtain her CPA license. She has aspirations to work for an established accounting firm as well as volunteering to help non-profits with financial management.
Chloe Griffin
Chloe is currently attending the University of Louisiana at Lafayette, pursuing a degree in Business Management, and is involved with the Student Support Services Program. She is also in the process of being inducted into the National Society of Leadership and Success. Chloe plans to continue her education and receive a master’s degree in strategic communications.
